UNH pool
The new outdoor pool is open.

Whether you’re an incoming freshman or returning to campus this fall for your second, third or fourth year, we can’t wait for you to arrive. A lot’s been going on while you were away — degree programs were developed, a pool was filled and lots and lots of elliptical machines were hauled into Hamel Rec. Here’s a preview of all the new things you’ll discover.

1. Endless Summer

It’s not the end of summer. When you get here, the new pool will be open. Grab your goggles and splish splash your way into September. For those of you coming from South Florida and other warmer climes, don’t fret — it’s heated. Photo Gallery

2. That’s Gymazing!

While you were away, crews primped and primed and applied some finishing touches to the newly expanded Hamel Recreation Center, which now has more fitness space, a 1/10-mile suspended track and a new multi-activity court and social area that will be open by the time you arrive. A portion of the center, including the new instructional kitchen, will be under renovation until January.

3. A New Space for Vets

Students who are active service members or U.S. military veterans have a new campus space to call home. The new veterans' student lounge is located near the UNH Military and Veteran Services office in Thompson Hall. Article

4. Deflategate

2015 Deflategate class.

The deflategate drama continues, so Deflategate, the course, does, too. Michael McCann, director of UNH Law’s Sports and Entertainment Law Center and regular contributor to Sports Illustrated, will be back in Durham for INCO 460, where students explore the interplay between those infamously deflated footballs and the legal, regulatory and journalistic systems governing sports. Special guests to the classroom last year included SI’s Monday Morning Quarterback Peter King. Who will come this year? You’ll have to register to find out. In addition to the four-credit class for undergraduates, Deflategate is being offered as an online non-credit course through UNH's professional development and training program. Check it out, and tell the sports nuts in your life.

5. Welcome to the Big Time

Speaking of finishing touches… They’re being applied everywhere at the new Wildcat Stadium, which will open on Sept. 10 when the football team hosts Holy Cross for its first home game of the season. The Dungeon awaits you and your 'Cat Pack. Article

6. Making It

3-D printers hum, an industrial sewing machine stitches and that can mean only one thing: The new UNH Makerspace is open at the UNH Entrepreneurship Center. Go to Madbury Commons and check it out. Video

7. Wi-Fi

Residence halls received a major Wi-Fi makeover during the summer; crews added thousands of new access points, meaning no matter where you live, you’ll have a stronger, faster connection. Configure your devices from home now so they’ll be ready to connect before you even set foot on campus.

Also new…

The inaugural class for the master in public policy degree meets this fall.

The new undergraduate dual major in sustainability gets rolling this fall.

An all-online analytics program will launch in January.
