Congratulations to Galina Kinsella, a 2015 COLSA graduate in biomedical science: medical and veterinary sciences who is completing her first year at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Galina has received a scholarship from the U.S. Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps. Galina told Prof. Drew Conroy, “I couldn't be happier to start this journey as an officer, and I feel so blessed to be able to serve my country while working in a field I have always dreamed about.”

While at UNH, Galina was a histology laboratory assistant at the New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (NHVDL). According to Dr. Inga Sidor, senior veterinary pathologist and clinical associate professor at the lab, this competitive scholarship program provides Galina a full scholarship for her veterinary education and stipend in exchange for service following completion of her veterinary program.

“Given the current tuition and debt levels for veterinary students, this is an incredible opportunity for Galina. She was a beloved employee at the NHVDL from fall 2012 until she graduated. An honors program student, Galina was one of the most qualified and hard-working students in her pre-vet cohort, who exemplified what it is to be a student at UNH, as well as our hopes for the future of veterinary medicine,” Sidor said.
