All students are expected to actively engage with and effectively express their learning. Due to their conditions, some students may need to discuss participation requirements in advance to ensure they can participate effectively. Discussing requirements in advance will allow the student to better prepare for participation and will allow any reasonable alternatives to be discussed.

  • This accommodation is not intended to modify participation requirements, nor is the intent to provide attendance flexibility. All students are expected to meet attendance requirements.

No. Students are expected to participate in classes. They should be able to demonstrate to instructors that they are both actively engaged and learning the content. This accommodation is designed to allow the student and instructor to talk about if alternative ways to engage can occur and learning can be demonstrated. SAS can help explore what options might be reasonable for a particular course.
