UNH Announces New Flexible and Affordable College-in-3 Online Degree Programs
For online students, the goal of earning a bachelor’s degree at the University of New Hampshire is now faster and more budget-friendly. The University of New Hampshire College of Professional Studies (CPS) has announced that it will start offering two new online Applied Bachelor of Science (A.B.S.) degree programs specifically designed to help eligible students earn a bachelor’s degree in as little as three years.
“UNH created these tailored programs in response to what today’s online students and employers are asking for — a faster, more affordable pathway to a college education that prepares specific graduates for today's workforce,” says Tamara VonGeorge, associate vice provost for online learning at UNH. “This is an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree through more flexible career-focused online programs in a significantly shorter amount of time than a traditional on-campus degree program.”
The online Applied Bachelor of Science in Management and Applied Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology degrees are newly designed programs that create opportunities for a broad range of students, including transfer students, working professionals, adult learners, military-affiliated students and community college graduates.
Both degree programs are open for enrollment now and emphasize UNH’s broader commitment to online education that is economical, personalized, career-minded, and meets the evolving needs of students. The A.B.S. programs are part of the nationally recognized College-in-3 Exchange program that helps design degree programs to increase student success while decreasing cost and meeting workforce demands.
The degrees are created with the same academic excellence expected from a UNH education. Rather than following a traditional 120-credit hours of study, the new degrees use an innovative 90 credit hour academic model that emphasizes practical, career-ready learning that is informed by research.
“Life doesn't always follow a straight path, so UNH created these online programs to help returning or continuing students build on previous education and move forward to complete a previously started bachelor's degree without starting over,” says Christian Lagarde, center director, business & technology programs for undergraduates and graduates. “By enrolling into one of these online degree programs, graduating sooner may help those students, who are often already in the workplace, pursue promotions or higher-paying positions earlier.”
Students can accelerate their path to graduation by building upon previous education and workplace experience — transferring up to 60 credits and helping to reduce the number of courses required and the overall tuition cost.
The programs are shaped by employer feedback - emphasizing workforce relevance, readiness, and skills so graduates can contribute immediately.
The Applied Bachelor of Science in Management (online) degree will prepare students for leadership opportunities across a variety of industries by helping them develop practical skills in leadership, project management, human resources, operations, organization, and strategic decision-making.
The Applied Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology (online) degree helps students build technical expertise in information systems, which includes networking, cybersecurity, virtualization, cloud computing, data management, and emerging technologies, while learning to solve real-world business and technology challenges.
U.S. News & World Report has ranked the UNH CPS as the top university for online degree programs in New Hampshire. It is also ranked among the nation’s highest in the categories of Best Online Bachelor's Programs (No. 48) and Best Online Bachelor's Programs for Veterans (No. 30).
