Knight-Hennessy Scholarship

Knight-Hennessy funds graduate level study at Standford University and provides a community of scholars. Applicants should exhibit independence of thought, purposeful leadership, and a civic mindset. Scholars participate in the King Global Leadership Program (KGLP), which includes workshops, lectures, projects, and experiences that strengthen transformational leadership capabilities.

Knight-Hennessy Application Deadlines

  • Internal Deadline: August 26, 2024, 5pm ET. 
  • National Deadline: October 9, 2024, 4pm ET (1:00pm PT).

Note: You must also apply for the Standford degree program. Be sure to check your chosen program for Standford's deadlines.

Knight-Hennessy Recommended Steps and Timeline

  1. By July 1, 2024: (1) Attend an online information session and (2) review the eligibility criteria to ensure you are eligible for the award and identify the master's degree program to which you'd like to apply.
  2. By July 8, 2024: (1) Sign and return nomination agreement form and (2) begin your online Knight Hennessy application.
  3. July - August, 2024: Complete drafts and revisions of short answer questions and essay.
  4. August 26, 2024, 5pm ET: INTERNAL DEADLINE - Submit all materials to Office of National Fellowships by end of day.
  5. Week of September 9, 2024: Committee Interview for Endorsement Letter
  6. October 9, 2024, 4pm ET (1pm PT): National Application DEADLINE.
