SSG SUSAN WENDLAND


Staff Sergeant Susan Wendland is a native of Hamilton, Ohio. She graduated from Hamilton High School in 2007. She entered in the United States Army on 7 April 2009, attending Military Police One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She is married to Mariana Arias and they have 1 daughter, Harlow (2).

SSG Wendland has held many leadership positions to include: Team Leader, Squad Leader, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, Senior Desk Sergeant, and Military Police Operations NCO.

SSG Wendland’s previous assignments include: 230th Military Police Company (Kaiserslautern, Germany), 170th Military Police Company (Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA), 57th Military Police Company (Schofield Barracks, HI), Delta Company, 728th Military Police Battalion (Fort Leonard Wood, MO), 18th Military Police Detachment (Fort Huachuca, AZ).

SSG Wendland is a graduate of two Non-Commission Officer Education System courses: Warrior Leaders Course and Advance Leaders Course. Additionally, she has graduated the Army Combatives Course level 1 and 2, Army Retention Course, Drill Sergeant Academy, Sexual Harassment Assault and Prevention Course, Anti-Terrorism Basic Course, Equal Opportunity Leader’s Course, and Army Master Resiliency Training Course.

SSG Wendland’s awards and decorations include: Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (7 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (4 th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 2), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2), Drivers Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, German Armed Forces Badge (Silver), and she has earned the Meritorious Unit Citation Award.
