Office of Environmental Health and Safety
The Office of Environmental Health and Safety (OEHS) works to assure safe and healthful environments for all segments of the campus population, through programs of information and education, review and monitoring, technical consultation, and provision of direct services. OEHS is also responsible for developing programs to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal health, safety and environmental regulations, and campus policies on environmental health and safety. Areas of responsibility include hazardous materials, environmental management as well as injury and illness prevention as highlighted in the USNH Policy on Environmental Health and Safety. The protection of human health, and compliance with applicable regulations are essential conditions for the successful operation of research, conduct of instruction, and provision of public service by the University.
EH&S supports the University of New Hampshire’s mission by providing leadership, resources, and services to assure a safe and healthful working environment for all members of the University and its surrounding community. A brochure has been created describing the programs and services offered by EH&S. In addition, visitors to UNH are encouraged to review the Visitor Safety Brochure prior to arrival.
EH&S has adopted a Code of Professional Conduct. The Code of Professional Conduct is a necessary component to maintain standards for EH&S staff to adhere and aspire to. It brings about accountability, responsibility and trust to the campus clients we serve. We encourage you to read the document.
