Jon Davis

Jon Davis receiving award

UNH student-Veteran Inducted into Golden Key Honor Society - Jon served four years in the Marine Corps as an Aviation Ordnance Technician from 2008 until 2012.  Following his service, he returned to his home state of New Hampshire for a year and then took the opportunity to further his education. He moved to Colorado with family and received his associate degree in Geography at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, CO before returning once again to New Hampshire, this time to continue his education though the University of New Hampshire’s Homeland Security program. After the VA transferred his file, he began at UNH in the spring of 2019.

Upon completing his first semester here at UNH, Jon was the recipient of a two awards; first, he was inducted into the newly established University of New Hampshire SALUTE chapter. SALUTE is the first national academic honor society for student Veterans and Active Duty military members. The society was formed in 2009 by the Colorado State University Veterans Office and has GPA and coursework requirements for all potential members. This month, Jon was also inducted into the Golden Key International Honor Society. This honor is reserved for members of the top 15% of the university and is the world’s largest collegiate honor society.

In his own words, Jon believes “being a Veteran we owe it to the people who are funding our education to make it worthwhile. There’s no sense in having this benefit and going to school and not doing your best”. Congratulations to Jon Davis on receiving these prestigious awards on behalf of all of us at the UNH Military and Veteran Services Center!
