According to Carsey School Senior Demographer Ken Johnson, "Americans should expect more discussions about race in rural regions" as nonwhite populations continue to grow there through domestic migration. Similiarly, Black Lives Matter protests and related movements will expectedly increase in presence in rural America as well, influenced by the growth in nonwhite resident populations in these areas.
