The Wisconsin State Journal recently covered the UNH Carsey School of Public Policy's rural population loss report and how Wisconsin has seen population decline in nearly half its counties – all rural – in the last decade. Nearly 35% of U.S. rural counties are experiencing long-term and significant population loss, according to 2019 research released by the Carsey School.
