students meeting with industry partners at UNH center for business analytics

The UNH Paul College Center for Business Analytics is excited to partner with UNH Professional Development & Training (PD&T) for the 2022/2023 Academic Year on a pilot program designed to increase access to professional development opportunities for UNH students, as well as small businesses connected with the Center.

Beginning this fall, the Center will provide up to 50 undergraduate and graduate students, as well as 30 small businesses, full scholarships for any of UNH Professional Development & Training’s live (online or in person) short-term workshops. This program will allow Paul College advisers--Career, Academic, Faculty, and the NH Small Business Development Center--to offer additional training in specific areas for their students and clients.

Students and small businesses will be able to apply for scholarships beginning September 1 via the Center for Business Analytics registration form.

“UNH Professional Development & Training delivers fantastic programming across a wide variety of areas,” said Andrew Mitchell, who is Assistant Director for the Center for Business Analytics. “This partnership was created to reduce the financial barrier to entry many face when searching for professional development opportunities. Students can explore new areas of interest outside of their academic curriculum, and small businesses can bolster key skills needed to succeed in today’s world with workshops on topics like digital marketing, sustainability, leadership, and so many more.”

The professional development workshops are separate and distinct from Paul’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs. However, they offer an excellent opportunity for enrollees to become more well-rounded professionals.

“We are excited for this partnership with the Paul College Center for Business Analytics to expand the reach and accessibility of PD&T’s noncredit programs to support the training needs of New Hampshire’s small businesses and future workforce,” said Director of UNH Professional Development & Training, Michael Mengers.

Founded in 2021 as part of a generous $6 million gift from Paul College alumni, Peter T. Paul, the Center for Business Analytics is the hub for a larger Business Analytics Initiative focused on supporting three key stakeholders: Students, Industry Partners, and Faculty. Developing new experiential learning pathways is a key part of the Center’s mission.

As part of their collaboration, the Paul College Center for Business Analytics and UNH Professional Development & Training will co-sponsor a subset of industry-specific workshops. The first workshop in this co-sponsored series—Supply Chain: What’s Strategic Sourcing & Data Analysis Got to Do with It?—will be on Friday, September 30th. It will be taught by Dr. Cynthia Kalina-Kaminsky, CEO of Process & Strategy Solutions.

The UNH Center for Business Analytics and UNH Professional Development & Training hope this pilot will allow them to expand their reach and communication beyond their current scope, and provide new avenues for engagement with students and industry.
