A view of Thompson Hall at UNH with the words Career and Professional Success

We had a great presentation by Career and Professional Success (CaPS) at our February Parents Council meeting. We learned that the exciting team at CaPS has already increased the number of participating employers by 500 percent. They have also created a new two-credit Career Boot Camp class teaching resume-writing and offering mock interviews.

There are also two fantastic sites available to UNH students in addition to LinkedIn:

  • Handshake is a job and career board like Indeed but specifically for college students with up to five years of experience.
  • Wildcat Connections is specifically for UNH students and alumni, like a more intimate LinkedIn where students can make industry connections with alumni.

The Parents Council is working with Tyler Wentworth at CaPS on ways to include parents more. Some options being considered include adding parents to Wildcat Connections, reaching out to parents about having their companies offer internships and on-campus recruiting and creating a calendar for parents that can help facilitate a dialogue and set expectations with your students.
