UNH senior Gabrielle Greaves received the Vanessa Johnson Award on Monday during the 36th annual Martin Luther King Day Community Celebration in Manchester, New Hampshire. The award recognizes emerging leaders in social justice.
Greaves is active with the UNH Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, where she co-leads a discussion series, and she’s part of the Black Student Union at UNH, where she has served as secretary. Greaves also served as moderator at the 2016 Black New England Conference. She’s studying English and women’s studies.
The New Hampshire MLK Coalition presents the award annually in honor of its former program director Vanessa Washington-Johnson Bloemen. It’s presented to a young person who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the areas of social justice and peace.
