On March 22, representatives from Hubbell joined University of New Hampshire students, faculty and staff at UNH Manchester to present a $50,000 donation on behalf of the Hubbell Foundation. The funds will support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) initiatives at the University’s Durham and Manchester campuses.
The check was presented by Dina Masotto, vice president of human resources at Hubbell Construction and Energy, and David Smith, vice president and general manager at BURNDY, LLC., a Manchester-based subsidiary of Hubbell Inc. that manufactures connector solutions for the industrial, energy, construction, telecommunication, petrochemical and transportation industries.
The majority of the funds will be used to create scholarships for underrepresented students in the Electrical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering Technology programs at Manchester or the engineering programs at Durham. The remaining funds will be used to support Tech Camp, a set of summer programs offered by UNH’s College of Engineering and Physical Sciences in Durham designed to increase STEM literacy among students in grades six through 12.
