FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: MUSEUM OF ART, UNH, REGISTRATION OPEN, SUMMER ART CAMP GRADES 2-12
DURHAM, NH –The Museum of Art, UNH is pleased to offer community engagement opportunities in the visual arts with week-long summer art classes for grades 2-8 and art intensives for high school student's grades 9-12, during the weeks of July 18-22 and July 25-29, 2016. Summer Art Camp is a day camp, offering sessions from 9am to noon and 1– 4 pm. Hands-on classes are taught by experienced artist-teachers who encourage and inspire art making. No prior experience is required for students and all materials will be provided. At the end of each week, four studio receptions will be held; Friday, July 22 from 11am–noon and 3- 4pm and Friday, July 29 from 11am –noon and 3- 4pm. These receptions will showcase students artwork completed throughout each week and families are encouraged to attend. The Museum of Art is located at the Paul Creative Arts Center, 30 Academic Way, Durham.

 

Classes offered week 1: July 18-22, 2016: Students in grades 2 – 12 have a wide variety of mediums to choose from including painting, drawing, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, clay and digital photography, Morning sessions (9am- noon) include: HANDS-on with CLAY!, with instructor Moriah Mazzochi (Grades 2–3), Art Innovate!, with instructor Kimberly Olson (Grades 4-5), FUNdamentals of Drawing & Painting, with instructor Allie Aponik (Grades 4-5). Introduction to Digital Photography with instructor Addie Fisher (Grades 6-8), FUNdamentals of Drawing & Painting, with instructor Karen Mawikere (grades 6-8), Drawing Studio, with instructor Sean Ware (grades 9-12). Afternoon sessions (1 – 4pm) The Great Art Experiment!, with instructor Kimberly Olson (Grades 2-3), Introduction to Digital Photography, with instructor Addie Fisher (Grades 4-5), FUNdamentals of Clay:with instructor Moriah Mazzochi (Grades 6-8), Drawing Studio:, with instructor Allie Aponik (Grades 6-8) and DRAWING/WATER MEDIA, with instructor with instructor Sean Ware, (Grades 9-12).

During the second week, July 25 –29, morning sessions (9am- noon) include: Artist Study: Becoming Andy Warhol!, with instructor Kimberly Olson (Grades 2-3), MIXED MEDIA, with instructor Karen Mawikere (Grades 2-3), include: Clay, sound and instruments!, with instructor Moriah Mazzochi (Grades 4-5); MIXED MEDIA, with instructor Allie Aponik (Grades 4-5), MIXED MEDIA, with instructor Jamie Bowman (Grades 6-8), Drawing Studio, with instructor Sean Ware (grades 9-12) and Introduction to Digital Photography, with instructor Addie Fisher (Grades 9-12). Afternoon sessions (1-4pm) Artist Study: Becoming MC Escher, with instructor Kimberly Olson (Grades 4 – 5), FUNdamentals of Drawing & Painting, with instructor Jamie Bowman (Grades 4-5), Introduction to Digital Photography, with instructor Addie Fisher (Grades 6-8), and FUNdamentals of Drawing & Painting, with instructor Allie Aponik (Grades 6-8), Clay, with instructor Moriah Mazzochi (Grades 9-12) and Drawing & Painting Studio, with instructor Sean Ware (grades 9-12).

Classes are subject to cancellation and include the cost of basic materials. Lunch and snacks are not provided, but students enrolled in a full day of courses are welcome to bring their lunches to enjoy in the Paul Creative Arts Center.
