Bella Yue Bai, an English Teaching major, was selected for the Create Your Own Story program for 2015-16. This program recognizes current students who have made their UNH stories successful. This initiative exists not only to highlight dedicated students but also to inspire others to take advantage of all UNH has to offer. Faculty, staff, and community members nominate exceptional students, ten of whom are recognized each year.

In Chinese, Yue means "try your best and become better." When "Bella" Yue Bai arrived on the Durham campus in the fall of 2012 from Zhengzhou, China, she could barely speak a sentence of English. With the support of parents and undeterred by the challenge ahead, she entered the Navitas program and dedicated her first year to improving her language proficiency. Flash forward to spring of 2016. When you ask Bai today about graduating from the University of New Hampshire, she becomes noticeably emotional about leaving her "second home." The unique story Bai has created at UNH is truly one of courage, commitment, perseverance.
