Ambassador Guoxiang Sun visited the Durham campus on Friday, Nov.14, along with Chinese trade and commerce delegates, as part of the New Hampshire-UNH-Sichuan Economic and Trade Forum.
Sun is consul general at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York, which works to promote exchanges and provide consular services in the 10 Northeastern U.S. states, including New Hampshire.
The ambassador took part in the trade forum, which, in addition to the Chinese delegation, included representatives from the UNH provost’s office, UNH School of Law, the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics and the UNH Center for International Education, along with officials from the New Hampshire economic development and international commerce offices and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The group discussed educational research and exchange as well as business and economic development opportunities between New Hampshire and China, particularly China’s Sichuan Province, which is home to UNH’s partner institution, Chengdu University.
Also during his visit, Sun met with President Huddleston and toured campus with Chinese students and students enrolled in the university’s Mandarin classes.
