Social Work

The Social Work minor at UNH offers foundational preparation in advocating for individuals and communities facing daily challenges. Here you'll be able to explore the profession's core values, ethics, and historical development while studying human behavior and social welfare policy.

Social work is about helping individuals, families and community members with problems in their daily lives and advocating for those who need a voice.In the social work minor, you’ll learn about the history, values and ethics of the social work profession and social welfare policy,and be introduced to human behavior and social work practices. Enhance your career opportunities by combining this minor with undergraduate study in areas such as education, healthcare, justice studies or sociology.

Why study social work at UNH?

As a student in the social work program at UNH,you’ll have the opportunity to participate in faculty research projects and work with faculty from several departments including anthropology, English, communications, history, nursing, philosophy, sociology and women’s studies. You’ll also be able to join Students of Social Work, an on-campus group that provides participants with the chance to learn more about social work in general while also networking with career professionals.
