WHAT IS RECREATION MANAGEMENT?

The recreation industry is a broad field with job prospects in a variety of areas, including festival and event planning, non-profit administration, travel and tourism, sport, municipal recreation and outdoor recreation. This industry is experiencing rapid worldwide growth, and the demand for recreation management professionals is increasing.

WHY STUDY RECREATION MANAGEMENT AT UNH?

A minor in recreation management allows students to acquire a basic understanding of the recreation industry and the variety of careers associated with it. You will complete a required course on recreation and tourism in society, and will have the opportunity to select elective courses in the areas of event planning, community recreation and sport, and commercial recreation. You’ll also be able to connect with fellow students through the Recreation Society, a student-led club promoting recreation opportunities for the UNH community.

This industry is experiencing worldwide growth which is opening up tremendous workforce opportunities. The primary goal of the recreation management minor is to provide a basic understanding of the recreation industry and the variety of careers associated with this industry for students interested in staying on their existing academic pathway. The required core course for this minor, provides a comprehensive overview of the recreation industry. Students select additional elective courses from a list of offerings that lend themselves to specific areas of knowledge and interest.
