What is nutrition?

Nutrition is the study of food and its relationship to health and human development. Within the nutrition minor, you can choose to study the ways in which food and nutrition affect human health, food science, the science of nutrition and wellness, community nutrition, and nutrition education. The minor complements several majors, including biomedical sciences, business administration, communication sciences and disorders, education, exercise science, health management and policy, public health, social work, sustainable agriculture and food systems, and more.

Why study nutrition at UNH?

In the nutrition minor, you’ll be able to create an individualized course of study by choosing elective courses that combine well with your interest and major. You’ll develop a more comprehensive understanding of the relationships between food, metabolism, nutrients and our health, and you will have opportunities for hands-on learning through a variety of course work and internships. Also, the UNH-in-Italy program courses can be included for your minor. This program allows you to experience the medieval city of Ascoli Piceno while studying English-language courses that explore the links between food culture, sustainable agriculture and the policies and issues impacting the food system.
