Why is a music minor?

If you have a serious interest in music but want to major in another field, the music minor is for you. You’ll study music theory and literature, selecting courses from a wide variety of options. At the same time, you’ll be able to continue to enjoy making music with our many performing ensembles. Combining the music minor with a major such as engineering, psychology, business, theatre, math and others expands your career opportunities or helps you prepare for further studies.

As a music minor at UNH, you’ll engage with nationally and internationally renowned performers, scholars, conductors and composers. You may participate in the university’s dynamic Undergraduate Research Conference, which each spring highlights student research and creative work. Our ensembles include touring chamber and choral groups, as well as orchestras and bands that inspire audiences from the stage to the football field. You’ll also be able to engage with the community through our many outreach programs.
