The Art minor at UNH offers a dynamic blend of hands-on studio experience and art history study that enriches your creative and analytical skills. Here you'll be able to explore diverse mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking and woodworking while developing a deeper understanding of art history.
With access to the Paul Creative Arts Center, Portsmouth's vibrant art scene and world-class Boston museums just an hour away, you'll be immersed in a rich cultural environment. Through our Visiting Artists & Art Historians program and study abroad opportunities, you'll connect with diverse and global perspectives that complement any major and prepare you for careers in the arts or advanced study in fields from business to design.

Combine your interest in fine arts and art history through the art minor at UNH. You’ll gain studio experience in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, printmaking or woodworking while also receiving an introduction to art history. Combine a minor in art with a major in history or the classics to prepare for careers in the arts or further study in graduate programs as varied as architecture, business and law.
With the UNH Gallery of Art and Paul Creative Arts Center right on campus, the culturally rich community of Portsmouth just minutes away, and the fine art museums of Boston within an hour’s drive, you’ll be surrounded by dynamic art events and exhibits. You’ll meet and learn from artists and historians from around the world through our Visiting Artists & Art Historians program. You’ll also have the opportunity to study abroad in a variety of programs.
The art minor is an appropriate option for students who do not want to take the specific requirements for the art history or studio art minors, but who are still interested in taking art history and/or studio classes.
