The online Master of Science in Instruction and Leadership at the University of New Hampshire is designed for licensed teachers interested in becoming leaders who are focused on the improved learning of their PK-12 students. Students learn research-based techniques to collaborate with peers to create positive change and promote increased success for students and schools. With multiple specialization options and a 36-credit curriculum, this program can be completed in as little as 18 months online.
Educators who have completed a post-baccalaureate teacher licensure with UNH can complete this degree with just four courses (12 credits).

Throughout the online Master's in Instruction and Leadership (MSIL) program, students design and implement an action research project to meet a specific need of their school community. Choose from a variety of specialization areas to customize your degree based on your interests and professional goals.
The MSIL program at the College of Professional Studies will be a personalized experience where you work with an expert practitioner-UNH faculty who will support you in creating and implementing a job-embedded project focused on solving a problem of practice. You will gain expertise in a content area of your choice by selecting specialization courses and will collaborate with other teacher leaders from around New Hampshire during your final four courses.
The Master of Science in Instruction and Leadership is designed as a capstone degree for UNH CPS Post Baccalaureate teacher licensure completers and others holding current teacher licensure who are interested in improving their effectiveness as a teacher and who want to become effective teacher leaders who are focused on the improved learning of their PK-12 students. Graduate students in this program learn from research-based techniques to collaborate with peers to create positive change and to promote increased student success.

Our Accelerated Master of Science in Instruction and Leadership (MSIL) provides an opportunity for UNH undergraduate students to begin graduate study while completing a bachelor’s degree.

Students claiming in-state residency must also submit a Proof of Residence Form. This form is not required to complete your application, but you will need to submit it after you are offered admission, or you will not be able to register for classes.
If you attended UNH or Granite State College (GSC) after September 1, 1991, and have indicated so on your online application, we will retrieve your transcript internally; this includes UNH-Durham, UNH-Manchester, UNH Non-Degree work and GSC.
If you did not attend UNH, or attended prior to September 1, 1991, then you must upload a copy (PDF) of your transcript in the application form. International transcripts must be translated into English.
If admitted, you must then request an official transcript be sent directly to our office from the Registrar's Office of each college/university attended. We accept transcripts both electronically and in hard copy:
Transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions must be submitted and applicants must disclose any previous academic or disciplinary sanctions that resulted in their temporary or permanent separation from a previous post-secondary institution. If it is found that previous academic or disciplinary separations were not disclosed, applicants may face denial and admitted students may face dismissal from their academic program.
Recommendation letters submitted by relatives or friends, as well as letters older than one year, will not be accepted.

In addition to 24 specialization credits, students will also take the following four courses. See the Specialization Courses below for requirements for each subject area.
For students who have completed a Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Licensure with UNH CPS, completion of this degree only requires the following four courses (12 credits).
