Getting a dual J.D. and MBA degree can be a big advantage in a career involving law and business in today’s complex global economy. You can save time and money, finishing in three and a half years compared to pursuing both degrees separately.
You’ll combine the strong problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills of a law degree with the leadership, people management, business development, and negotiation abilities of an MBA, making you a prime candidate for high-level management positions in law, finance, consulting, and business sectors. In addition, the dual degree can be valuable in pursuing a public interest career, which requires a multi-faceted toolkit to tackle challenges and opportunities in government, nonprofits, and beyond.

Applications must be completed by the following deadlines in order to be reviewed for admission:
Application fee: $65
Campus: J.D. offered in Concord and MBA offered in Durham
New England Regional: No
Accelerated Masters Eligible: No
Students claiming in-state residency must also submit a Proof of Residence Form. This form is not required to complete your application, but you will need to submit it after you are offered admission, or you will not be able to register for classes.
If you attended UNH or Granite State College (GSC) after September 1, 1991, and have indicated so on your online application, we will retrieve your transcript internally; this includes UNH-Durham, UNH-Manchester, UNH Non-Degree work and GSC.
If you did not attend UNH, or attended prior to September 1, 1991, then you must upload a copy (PDF) of your transcript in the application form. International transcripts must be translated into English.
If admitted, you must then request an official transcript be sent directly to our office from the Registrar's Office of each college/university attended. We accept transcripts both electronically and in hard copy:
Transcripts from all previous post-secondary institutions must be submitted and applicants must disclose any previous academic or disciplinary sanctions that resulted in their temporary or permanent separation from a previous post-secondary institution. If it is found that previous academic or disciplinary separations were not disclosed, applicants may face denial and admitted students may face dismissal from their academic program.
Recommendation letters submitted by relatives or friends, as well as letters older than one year, will not be accepted.
One letter must be from UNH Law faculty. For the second letter we will use the statement of support. When you apply the application will ask you to provide a second recommender. Please enter for the recommender Annie Nevells (email is annie.nevells@unh.edu) and she will get the second letter requirement waived.
Applicants to the MBA Program must provide answers to these specific questions: 1) What are your short and long term goals? Why is an MBA a critical step toward achieving these goals? Why are you interested in UNH? 2) List 10 facts about yourself that will help your future classmates get to know you. *Optional: Please provide any additional information you believe is important and/or address any areas of concern that will be beneficial to the Admissions Committee in considering your application (e.g. unexplained gaps in employment, choice of recommenders, academic performance, or extenuating personal circumstances).
Statements must be included with your submitted application.
A current resume is required with your submitted application.
In addition to the letter of recommendation, a complete application will include a statement of support from UNH Law. Current UNH Law students must request a statement of support from Brad Hinton, the UNH Law Assistant Registrar. Ask to have the letter sent directly to you as you will need to upload it below to submit your application.
All applicants are encouraged to contact programs directly to discuss program-specific application questions.
Applicants are highly encouraged to contact the MBA program office for information on applying. Please visit the UNH School of Law Dual Degree webpage for J.D./MBA Dual Degree Guidelines. Admission to the MBA/J.D. program requires pre-stipulation of a B (3.0) grade point average at the end of the first J.D. year.
Prospective international students are required to submit TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent examination scores. English Language Exams may be waived if English is your first language. If you wish to request a waiver, then please visit our Test Scores webpage for more information.
