We are the Educational Excellence & Effectiveness (E3) team,
here to support faculty development, accreditation, assessment, and data-informed strategic decision making.
Accreditation and Assessment
In addition to supporting the institutions’ commitment and reaffirmation to our regional accreditor, New England Commission for Higher Education (NECHE), we are available to academic departments who have (or are seeking) external accreditation.
Specifically, we can help you gather and deploy data, develop curricular assessment processes, draft and/or edit your narrative, and prepare for a site visit.
Academic programs without external accreditation are expected to complete Program Reviews which require programs to assess their curricula, review data related to students and resources as they relate to strategic future goals or innovations programs wish to implement.
In addition to supporting the continuous improvement for curricular programs, assessment is also an important piece of institutional initiatives and co-curricular programs. Based upon student learning outcomes, the formal and systematic collection and analysis of data provides an opportunity for programs to make informed decisions about curricula and co-curricular goals.
Data Informed
At the core of assessment and accreditation is using data and information as evidence to drive decision making. Such efforts are particularly important with the ever-changing landscape of higher education so that we can respond and redirect where needed to fulfill the mission of UNH.
Our team works with community members and data providers to find existing data, identify any additional data that would give evidence, and promote existing dashboards/reports to decision makers. For example, we’ve met with Dean’s Offices and academic programs completing external accreditation to learn about practices, successes and challenges in collecting and using data. Using this insight, and in partnership with data providers across the university, we are creating a centralized location to access existing data, find data governance information (e.g., access to data, data dictionaries, known data limitations, appropriate use), and see examples of how data has informed continuous improvement at UNH. This Data Hub will allow those completing accreditation/program reviews quick access to important data.
Faculty Development
Our team supports the continuous development of faculty by supporting teaching and learning, department chairs, and community partners through consultations, workshops, learning communities, and retreats. Additionally, we work with faculty in various aspects of their role, such as mentoring graduate students, maintaining research labs, leadership development, grant writing and assessment, and the promotion and tenure review process.
