The Educational Excellence and Effectiveness team supports programs, departments, and institutional leaders to review and strengthen the quality of education and related supports at the University of New Hampshire (UNH). Through structured self-review processes (namely programmatic accreditation, NECHE accreditation, academic program review, assessment, and other internal improvement efforts), we help faculty and leaders find relevant data, make meaning of evidence, and develop practical plans for ongoing review and continuous improvement.
Our work helps UNH use evidence to understand student learning and success, improve programs and processes, and make strategic decisions that advance high-quality educational experiences.
Goal 1: Support structured self-review of educational quality and effectiveness.

Support meaningful assessment practices that improve curricula, policies, procedures, and student learning outcomes.
Help programs develop authentic and informative assessment methods that showcase student learning while respecting academic freedom.
Encourage the use of multiple sources of evidence (including student work, survey data, course and program outcomes, and other institutional data) to inform continuous improvement.
Build capacity across UNH for asking stronger questions about learning, equity, engagement, and success.
Goal 2: Advance academic quality, accreditation readiness, and compliance through aligned practices and documentation.
We provide expertise and coordination to help UNH meet accreditation standards, federal and state requirements, and institutional expectations for academic quality and effectiveness.
Manage and support programmatic accreditation and academic compliance requirements.
Improve consistency and alignment in documentation, policies, and procedures related to educational effectiveness.
Support institutional readiness for self-study reviews and accreditation expectations by prioritizing continuous improvement efforts and coordinating centralized documentation.
Goal 3: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by expanding awareness, access, and use of data and information.
We aim to make data and information more visible, understandable, and actionable so that UNH can respond proactively to challenges and opportunities in our curricula.
Help academic and administrative units use data to challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and make informed decisions.
Encourage curiosity, transparency, and shared responsibility for continuous improvement, using data.
Support collaboration across units to connect localized data and create a more holistic understanding of student pathways, needs, and outcomes.
Build awareness and consistent use of centralized sources of data to support evidence-informed assessment and accreditation efforts.
