Spend the summer writing with a peer group and a 1:1 Scholarly Coach
Writing Academy is a career development program designed to advance scholarship. A broad array of scholars at various points in their careers are immersed in a summer-long learning community with peers and senior colleagues to learn successful strategies focused on writing, reflection, and critical feedback. The interdisciplinary opportunities offered during the Academy catalyze interactions across the disciplines and often continue long after the end of the Academy experience. The goal of the Academy goes beyond writing and submitting scholarly pieces and grant proposals to helping participants build a vibrant scholarly life that contributes to the intellectual climate of UNH and beyond.

We've partnered with Howard University for the Writing Academy since it began in 2013. That first year, Howard University faculty participated. As Howard created their own version of Writing Academy focus shifted to include Howard University advanced doctoral scholars and recent PhD graduates in Writing Academy.
We are committed to this partnership which not only enriches the learning community for UNH and Howard scholars but also becomes an opportunity for nurturing future collaborations and synergies between our institutions.

Engagement and Faculty Development
The vision for the University of New Hampshire's Writing Academy is to enhance faculty members' scholarly careers. We seek to broaden the number and diversity of faculty who publish their scholarship and are awarded proposals by external funders to enhance their scholarship and engagement agendas.
To support our vision, the Academy goals are to:
- Enhance faculty scholars' emerging or established scholarly agendas
- Catalyze interactions among scholars and scholarly coaches to create robust and productive scholarly agendas
- Provide information and access to colleagues with successful publication and grant records to learn about successful writing and/or proposal development strategies
- Encourage scholars to develop a team approach to enhance publication and grant writing success
- Provide information and access to on-campus scholarly and proposal writing and submission resources
- Create opportunities among faculty for multidisciplinary scholarship and engagement
