Dr. Lucía M. Montás is a Senior Lecturer of Spanish in the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of New Hampshire. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Spanish Literature from the University of Florida, as well as a Master's and Doctorate in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky.
She previously taught at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (2009–2013). At UNH, Dr. Montás teaches courses ranging from Beginning and Intermediate Spanish to Hispanic Cultural Studies. She also directs the Dominican Republic J-Term Study Abroad Program, coordinates the Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies Minor, and serves as Faculty Advisor for both the Spanish Club and Language Ambassadors.
Her interdisciplinary research centers on Urban Cultural Studies and Caribbean women writers—work published in journals like Voces del Caribe and Cuadrivium, with her first book on urbanism in Caribbean literature currently in preparation.
