OBA Employee Recognition Program

 

Introduction/Objective

UNH Business Affairs has established a division-wide Recognition Program to formally celebrate, appreciate, and honor the contributions of individuals and teams to the strategic mission of our Division and the University: Recruitment, Education and Retention of Students.

Eligibility

The following OBA staff in good standing will be eligible:

  • PAT/OS

  • Adjunct Staff

  • Student Staff

  • New hires (no waiting periods)

Tips for Writing a successful Nomination

  • Don’t wait until the last minute – put time and thought into your nomination
  • Give details, be specific why the employee should win the selected award
  • Don’t use terms specific to your organization that committee members may not understand
  • Nominations should be for above and beyond work/service or new and exciting ideas
  • Spelling and grammar count, treat these nominations professionally
  • If providing supplemental documentation, it must be as a PDF
  • Focus on this year’s achievements
  • Make sure you understand the award criteria you are selecting before you submit a nomination – reach out to HR for clarification if needed
  • Submit Online or at one of the conveniently located department

Process/Timeframes

Nominations will be accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, with one final deadline per year.  All forms, whether electronic or paper, will be submitted to the divisional HR team for initial review and then shared with the standing Recognition Committee for continued follow-up.

The recognition committee will formally meet to determine eligible award nominees. The committee may ask follow up questions to the nominator if more information is needed.   OBA Senior leadership will be apprised of those employee names prior to communicating with those award winners.

General Program Guidelines

The committee will be comprised of no more than ten employees from OBA and the two HR Partners. The committee will strive to represent a broad range of employment categories and departmental groups.   Committee members will be asked to participate for a minimum of one year and after that, various members of the group will have the option to rotate out and new members will be asked to join.  

Announcements regarding nominees and award winners will be published on the various department websites, the OBA newsletters, and posters displayed in a visible area in each department (i.e. where employees find the paper nomination forms). The awards ceremony attendees will include the recipients, the appropriate department directors and direct supervisors, the recognition committee members, and the Associate Vice President (as emcee) of OBA.  All nominees will be notified of the nomination by Campus Mail.  Award recipients will be personally notified by their department Director with an invitation to an awards ceremony.
