Find Out How This Practice Can Be More Than Just A Way To Exercise

Yoga is defined as, “a group of physical, mental and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India”. In today’s day and age, we tend to think of yoga as a way to get exercise, increase flexibility, and increase strength. We have strayed away from the idea that yoga can also be used to fulfill a spiritual practice, and aid in relaxation. 

Yoga can be thought of as many things whether that be a spiritual practice, a method of exercise, or a way of relaxation. The benefits of yoga can include: 

  • Lowered blood pressure 
  • Increased flexibility
  • Enhanced cognitive ability 
  • Lowered cholesterol 
  • Strengthened bones and joints 
  • Weight loss 
  • Lowered stress 
  • Peace of mind 
  • Higher mind-body connection 
  • Deepened spirituality 
  • Increased happiness 

Whatever you are looking for with your practice, you will most certainly be able to find it through yoga. If you are interested in practicing yoga this month, and in the future UNH Campus Recreation offers group exercise classes in yoga free to students and members!
