With the semester under way, some people may start to begin to feel the early stages of stress. Between new classes, new professors, and new protocols for the pandemic, the stress we experience may feel worse than it has during previous semesters. - Chamomile: This is the tea that a lot of regular tea drinkers choose when they experience stress or anxiety. A cup of this before bed is sure to help you relax and get a restful night of sleep.
- Lavender: Similar to chamomile, lavender helps relieve stress and anxiety by working in the brain as a mild mood stabilizer. If you prefer tea during the day, this one is sure to calm you down and elevate your mood.
- Lemon Balm: With a sweet and citrusy aroma, lemon balm tea has been shown to relieve the symptoms of stress and anxiety by boosting the neurotransmitter, GABA, within the brain to ease stress.
Although there are many other teas that are known to relieve stress, these are the most common in the grocery store. Pick up a box of tea to try and brew a cup any time you are feeling stressed, and enjoy a few moments of peace. Some stress can be good for our health, but too much can slow us down; just remember to take a few deep breaths and enjoy the present moment.
