Seacoast African American Cultural Center in Ports
An exhibit of Gary Samson’s photos from Creole Soul: Zydeco Lives (part of the American Made Series from University Press of Mississippi) is now open at the Seacoast African American Cultural Center in Portsmouth. It will be up until June 10. Burt Feintuch, who authored Creole Soul, directed the UNH Center for the Humanities for more than 30 years and also taught in Dept of English. He published widely on roots music and conducted ethnographic field research in Great Britain, the United States, and Canada. We are honored to have this opportunity to celebrate his final book.
We will have a special reception at SAACC co-hosted by the Center (and with generous support from the COLA Dean’s Office and the English department), where you can view the exhibit and hear the book’s editor, Jeannie Banks Thomas, read and speak about it. There will be refreshments and a cash bar. Since the venue is small, we would appreciate if you would RSVP if you are planning to come.
