Michael McIntire

Mike earned his B.A. in New Media from the University of Maine and his M.Ed. in Educational Studies from the University of New Hampshire. In the past he as worked as an adjunct faculty teaching in the art program at Colby Sawyer College and an Instructional Designer in the Instructional Design Center at the University of New Hampshire. In his role as an Instructional Designer in the IDC Mike provided pedagogy and technical support as the lead support for the then new classroom poling system E-Instruction and worked with faculty to transition their courses online with the introduction of J-Term at UNH. As a member of the Instructional Development Center he also took part in planning and delivery of faculty workshops such as FITSI and T.E.A.C.H.

He later leveraged his expertise and his pedagogy first approach to become the manager of Media and Collaboration services. This team focused on supporting and driving adoption for lecture capture, rich media, and web conferencing at UNH. Working with faculty he also supports their use of media as a teaching tool as well as media projects assigned to students by helping faculty new to rich media projects design assignments that met their learning objectives. He provides support in the form of class talks on media projects like video creation, or interactive fiction using tools like twine in the classroom.

Mike now works as a Learning Architect with Learning Development and Innovation. He continues to lead the Parker Media Lab supporting the use of media in teaching in learning by faculty and students, as well as the exploration of tools like augmented reality, and virtual reality as means of achieving desired learning outcomes. Mike has been working in higher education since 2003 and has always taken a user-centered approach to problem solving to deliver services or pedagogy driven technology support and instructional design activities. He also holds certifications in Applying the Quality Matters Rubric from Quality Matters, Certification in Supervision from UNH Continuing Education and from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics for completing "Be a Catalyst for Innovation" workshops.

In his free time Mike is an avid maker leveraging woodworking, metal working, and his media skills to create photos and videos of various topics.
