How to get active at UNH
There are so many different ways you can increase your physical activity at UNH. Some simple ways to increase your activity include choosing to walk rather than ride the shuttle always taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Here are some other ways to incorporate activity into your days:
1) Join an intramural team on campus and continue to play a sport you love, without a ton of commitment.
2) Go to the Hamel Rec Center a few times per week. The newly renovated... Read More

Given our active student body at UNH, many students come back for fall semester motivated to start off the semester with a new workout routine. Many can find the gym to be overwhelming and the chaos of back to school season to be too much. The beginning of the semester is the perfect time to try a new approach to physical activity, and September just happens to be national yoga month! So toss on some comfy clothes, grab a water bottle and head to a class right on campus!

The first week of classes are done and the semester is about to kick into full gear. Aside from the cardio machines, weights, basketball courts, squash courts, and track, students also have the added benefit of full... Read More

In the world of exercise, trends come and go. There is boot camp, zumba, pilates and so much more. The most recent type of workout to hit the exercise world is TRX. The name sounds a little intimidating, but it is a workout that will provide you with strength, flexibility and balance. TRX is made up of nylon straps that you secure onto any steady surface and which provides you with a full body workout. Once the straps are secured, there are a number of different workouts that can be done with... Read More

No matter how dedicated you are to staying physically active, sometimes going to the gym or lacing up your shoes for a run can feel like a chore. The best way I have found to look forward to every workout and avoid the crowds at the gym is to take advantage of the group fitness classes UNH Campus Recreation has to offer. Here at UNH students and members of the Hamel Recreation Center can take advantage of a variety of different classes ranging from aerobic based activities to strength training... Read More

Like to dance? Looking to get in shape or change up your cardio workout? Ever heard of Zumba? Zumba is an energetic dance class where participants are able to let loose and have fun! I took a Zumba class a few days ago after a two-year hiatus of zumba-ing and I honestly forgot how much fun it was! The dance moves are relatively simple but fast paced to get your heartbeat going. Most of the music is top-40’s hits that you can sing along to if you want to make the most of the experience. It’s a... Read More

to stay in shape. As college students, we are committed to our education and
clubs, and we want to spare some time for fun too. Even when we find the spare minutes to fit in
some physical activity, it’s incredibly easy to come up with any excuse not to
work out. It’s cold, it’s early, it’s
raining, my knee hurts… Well, you know. The list goes on. But what if your
workout was actually fun, and you were surrounded by your friends the whole
time? That’s one reason why group fitness... Read More
