Farmer’s market restaurants are located on the same property as the farm itself, and only serve food that is grown right there on the farm, ensuring that is extra fresh. And anything that the farm can’t provide is retrieved from other local farms.

I am currently studying abroad in Italy and have had the opportunity to visit a Farmer’s Market Restaurant in the region of Abruzzo. In Italy farmer’s market restaurants are known as an Agruturismo and they are very popular.
The Mediterranean Diet, in Italy and other nearby countries, is the normal way of eating. Research shows that the Mediterranean diet, which consists of plant based foods can lower risks for heart disease and many chronic illnesses like certain cancers, diabetes, etc. One of the main reasons that the Mediterranean diet has so many health benefits is because it doesn’t contain any processed foods.
The good news is you don’t have to travel to Italy or a Mediterranean country to eat healthfully. Eating homegrown food in New Hampshire helps support the local farms, the local economy and will keep you healthy!
