Nutrition Educator

Leah's Pantry works with families throughout California to develop cooking skills and to increase consumption of fresh, whole foods. We are committed to establishing healthy eating habits to promote wellness, self-sufficiency, and to prevent chronic disease. Over 5,000 Californians have graduated from our Food Smarts Workshops, taught in four languages, through partnerships with over 200 community housing sites, schools, and other service agencies.

We are hiring a facilitator for three six-week kids cooking series in partnership with BRIDGE Housing.  The series will be working with school aged children twice a week. The programming includes cooking demonstrations, nutrition presentations, and age appropriate activities. The facilitator will go through a paid training in San Francisco and Leah's Pantry will provide all the materials.

The facilitator will need to be reliable, responsive to email, friendly and personable, and ideally will have experience working with a low-income and ethnically diverse children and adults. The facilitator must have a demonstrated experience working with groups and especially children. A background in education, cooking, or nutrition is required.

Each week facilitators are required to plan for class, shop for food using a prepaid gift card, teach the workshop, and post a summary to our online community. Pay is $70 per class, or $420 for the 6-week series. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.575 per mile. Facilitators are paid as employees of Leah's Pantry, not as subcontractors.

Only online applications are accepted. Visit to complete your application. There is no deadline for responses but we will make an offer as soon as we have a qualified candidate.
