"Class A" Ports of Entry
Not all U.S. ports of entry are the same. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) classifies ports of entry according to facilities and staffing. Class A means that the port is a designated Port of Entry for ALL aliens. Foreign nationals entering the U.S. by land should utilize Class A Ports of Entry. This is especially true for Canadians. The following is the most recent list of Class A ports of entry (valid as of September 1999). This list does not include international airports, but is a list of land and sea ports. International airports are also Class "A" ports of entry..
