About the OISS
The Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) at the University of New Hampshire participates in the creation of a culturally diverse learning environment by:
- Coordinating programs and activities which encourage interaction between the international, campus and local communities
- Fostering awareness, appreciation and understanding of other cultures
- Promoting international education at UNH by facilitating the enrollment and employment of foreign nationals and by providing them with essential support services.
It is the responsibility of OISS to ensure University compliance with all U.S. immigration regulations and to assist international students, exchange scholars, faculty and staff to achieve their professional and academic goals. We are here to provide assistance regarding not only U.S. immigration and employment regulations, but also education, personal, financial and health issues affecting our international community.
Overall, we are here to help our students and scholars learn and grow and have fun while doing it!
Over the past decade, the University of New Hampshire has hosted more than 5000 international students and scholars from all over the world. Although these students and scholars are attracted to UNH primarily for its academic and scholarly reputation, they quickly become aware that not all learning occurs inside the classroom or laboratory. At UNH, they discover a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture and to share their own culture not only with Americans, but with individuals from around the globe.
