Research and Policy Analyst, Food
GRACE Communications Foundation builds partnerships and develops innovative media strategies that increase public awareness of the relationships among food, water and energy systems. We are seeking a full-time Research and Policy Analyst to work for GRACE’s Food program and to do some food-related writing for our Ecocentric blog. He or she must be an excellent writer and researcher with extensive knowledge of and a demonstrated interest in such food issues as sustainable agriculture, industrial agriculture and factory farms, food policy, food economics and health/nutrition. The successful candidate will be able to work well in a team environment and on multiple projects and issues.
Specific responsibilities include:
 Writing, editing and developing content for GRACE’s Food program.
 Creating talking points and speeches for presentations, conferences and panels.
 Providing analysis of industrial and sustainable food and agriculture issues.
 Interfacing with advocates, public interest groups, businesses, government entities, academia and media as needed.
 Work with the Food team on major projects as needed.
Skills/Qualifications:
 B.A. degree or higher with at least five years of experience in sustainable/industrial agriculture and related fields.
 Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to:
o think critically and analytically;
o analyze complex material and ideas, and then communicate them in a wide range of styles and materials, from in-depth scholarly reports and issue papers to more consumer-friendly reviews, blog posts, handouts, fact sheets, brochures, educational materials etc.;
o produce well-written content under tight/short deadlines, and simultaneously manage a variety of projects with flexibility to reprioritize as necessary.
 A track record of writing policy papers and/or speeches and presentations a plus.
This position is on-site and will report to the program director, and/or senior policy advisor.
