Buckthorn Blitz in College Woods Oct. 9
Buckthorn Blitz in College Woods Oct. 9
Volunteer in College Woods at the second annual Buckthorn Blitz Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013. College Woods is being overrun with glossy buckthorn, a non-native invasive shrub that crowds out native plants. Volunteers can help preserve the ecology of this beautiful property, recognized as an outstanding example of the hemlock-hardwood-pine natural community in New Hampshire, by hand-pulling buckthorn. Volunteer for one or both of two sessions (9 – 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.).
Come prepared with a water bottle, long sleeve shirt and pants and sturdy shoes. For information, contact Steve Eisenhaure at the Woodlands Office (woodlands@unh.edu) or Malin Clyde at UNH Cooperative Extension (malin.clyde@unh.edu).
