Medical Information at Your Fingertips with HPHConnect
As the year winds down, if you find you need a recap of the medical services you received in 2012, or for any year since becoming a Harvard Pilgrim subscriber, you’ll find a plethora of information online at HPHConnect.
Want to know if a claim has been paid, or if a referral has been sent? Can’t remember which doctor you went to when, or why? HPHConnect has the answers to those questions, and more.
You can access your medical services information anytime by logging on to Harvard Pilgrim Health Care through USNH’s human resources’ benefits page. Scroll down to the Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare website option. (http://www.usnh.edu/hr/benefits/benefits.html ).
“We would like to encourage employees to use HPHConnect. The site offers many features including the cost of the employee’s medical care and data on the quality of doctors and hospitals in their own community,” says Amy Schwartz, director, Health Care Cost Containment. “We have worked hard to educate employees about these issues but what really makes it hit home is to be able to make that information personal to them. It’s an amazing tool and it’s all provided by Harvard Pilgrim for any UNH subscriber.”
Once you’re on the site, choose the HPHConnect option from the menu located at the top left. There you’ll find four topics: My Plan, My Account, My Health and My Savings. You need an account to view the information.
“My Health” has a summary of the care you’ve received as a Harvard Pilgrim subscriber. Clicking on the authorization number gives you more details: a description of the care and whether it was approved, for example. (“My Plan” also has summary details under “authorizations”).
You also can get information based on illnesses or conditions. Or, select “Visit Summary” for a list of dates of care, the types of visits (evaluation, in office, emergency, i.e.), and the doctors. Monthly services can be viewed by the claim number, date, or event.
The “Health Events” category offers even more information, describing any procedures done during a visit--an EKG, immunization, or complete blood count, for example. When viewing a medical claim, you can see the amount of the charge, the allowable amount, how much was paid, and how much you were responsible for. There is also a total of all your medical claims.
The “Benefits and Eligibility” page lists deductibles and calendar out-of-pocket maximums, showing the year-to-date of how much you’ve paid toward both.
HPHConnect also is where you go to order new ID cards, choose a primary care physician, list which doctors and family members can access your medical records, and manage your account.
