Marian McCord, formerly of North Carolina State University, has been named senior vice provost for research, economic engagement and outreach, effective Feb. 3.
At NC State, McCord servs as associate dean for research in the College of Natural Resources. She has extensive experience in the areas of technology transfer and business partnerships as well as with Cooperative Extension and in outreach efforts.
In her current role, McCord oversees the college’s sponsored program portfolio and research infrastructure with more than 200 active projects and 19 testing and service centers. During her tenure, multidisciplinary research proposals and awards increased by 50 percent. She is also a cofounder of Katharos, Inc., a company that aims to provide phosphate filtration solutions for end-stage renal disease patients, as well as cofounder and vice president of Vector Textiles, LLC.
