WHAT: Granite State Distance Learning Network “Technology
Take-Off” Conference
WHEN: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005
WHERE: University of New Hampshire, Holloway Commons: Squamscott,
Cocheco, and Lamprey Rooms
BACKGROUND: Lyonel B. Tracy, commissioner of the New Hampshire
Department of Education, will kick off the event, which features
Internet2 presentations and workshops on teaching, videoconferencing,
and technical considerations of Internet2 in research and science.
The conference will feature a live audio/video connection to a diver
on the West Coast, controlling a remotely operated vehicle (ROV)
under water in the Pacific Ocean from Holloway Commons, and a virtual
trip to the Cincinnati Zoo.
The Granite State Distance Learning Network (GSDLN) is a public/private
partnership of more than 30 organizations dedicated to developing
and implementing an affordable, high-speed telecommunications capacity
that ultimately will make interactive video networking and high-speed
Internet access widely available in New Hampshire.
