on Origins of the Novel

DURHAM, N.H. – Srinivas Aravamudan, professor of English at
Duke University will talk about “Spy Fiction and the Origins
of the Novel,” Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, from noon to 1 p.m. in
the English Department Lounge in Hamilton Smith Hall on the campus
of the University of New Hampshire.
Sponsored by the UNH English Department’s Writers Series,
the lecture is free and open to the public.
Aravamudan’s study, "Tropicopolitans: Colonialism and
Agency, 1688-1804, won the first book prize of the Modern Language
Association in 2000. He has also edited Slavery, Abolition and
Emancipation: Writings of the British Romantic Period: Volume VI
Fiction and his book Guru English: South Asian Religion in
Cosmopolitan Contexts will be published in 2005.
