DURHAM, N.H. – Hundreds of parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters will join their University of New Hampshire students for a weekend of activities during Family Weekend 2004, Oct. 22, 23 and 24, 2004.

Family Weekend is a UNH tradition that brings students and their families together, where all are encouraged to be part of the university community of learning and exploring.

One of the highlights of the weekend is a university picnic on the lawn of Thompson Hall Saturday, Oct. 23, complete with free photo buttons for the entire family, a DJ providing music, and appearances by UNH mascot Wild-E-Cat. In addition, the Alumni Marketplace will have new UNH logo items available. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the Memorial Union Building ticket office thru Oct. 20.

Other highlights include a free concert Friday evening with Dave Binder, who will present an evening of James Taylor favorites; UNH Jazz Band Concert; the Amadeus Trio performance; a Parents Association Sunday Brunch at Huddleston Hall; and football, men’s and women’s hockey, volleyball and soccer games.

Several UNH departments are offering programs such as Study Abroad 101, College Transition 101, Classroom Technology Demonstrations, a Master Plan presentation, and tours of Dimond Library. In addition, several are participating in the University Resource Fair that allows campus organizations to highlight their involvement in the undergraduate experience.

The community also is invited to get a last look at the UNH Art Gallery’s exhibits, “Realized in Wood: Contemporary Prints from China.”
