DURHAM, N.H. -- Two local groups of coastal caretakers, the Great Bay Coast Watch and the Great Bay Stewards, have scheduled their fifth annual joint meeting and barbecue for Thursday, July 29, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the U.S. Coast Guard Station in New Castle.

The event is free and open to the general public.

University of New Hampshire zoologist Win Watson will make a presentation on "How Lobsters Live, Mate and Escape" at the event.

In addition, the UNH Marine Docent Sea Chantey Singers will entertain, and representatives of the Coast Watch and the N.H. Coastal Program will present information from their surveys of local streams that examine signs of erosion and other habitat disturbance.

Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to one of the two organizations and to consider contributing a potluck contribution (appetizer, salad, drink or dessert).

Please call or e-mail Peggy Mullin (603-772-9766, pegmull@comcast.net) of the Stewards or Ann Reid (603-749-1565, ann.reid@unh.edu) of the Coast Watch.
