DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire Associate Professor of Animal
and Nutritional Sciences Colette Janson-Sand was recently named Outstanding
Dietetic Educator in recognition of her exceptional teaching, mentoring
and leadership activities.
The regional award recognizes Janson-Sand from a pool of nominations from the New England states, New Jersey and New York. She received the honor after being nominated by colleagues and former students to the New Hampshire Dietetic Association, which then forwarded her nomination for the regional award.
Janson-Sand was cited for her many accomplishments, including innovative teaching skills; mentoring and advising student; leadership within her professional associations; community service; and scientific and professional presentations.
At the April ceremony in Burlington, Vt., when Janson-Sand was officially honored, letters written by her former students were read during the presentation. She received a certificate and congratulatory letter from the president of the American Dietetic Association.
"It was so gratifying," said Janson-Sand, "to see that I had made an impact on their career decisions and that I had touched their lives in such a positive way."
Janson-Sand's name will be published in the list of outstanding educators
in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
