MEDIA ADVISORY: UNH Expert Available to Provide Information on Video Lottery TerminalsBy Janet Lathrop UNH News Bureau January 16, 2002
DURHAM, N.H. -- Emery Trowbridge, associate professor of hospitality management at the University of New Hampshire's Whittemore School of Business and Economics, moderated a forum on the proposal to allow video lottery terminals at New Hampshire race tracks, at a breakfast today for state legislators and administrative staff in Concord. Without taking a stand for or against the proposed legislation, he and others presented data on the economics -- expected revenue, impact on taxes -- of introducing video lottery terminals. Some of the other issues for which data are available include crime and quality of life in new casino jurisdictions. Trowbridge teaches a casino management class at the Whittemore School and made a brief statement to the legislators about that course, as well. He can be reached today at 603-929-0088 for more information about gaming in general and video lottery terminals in particular. |
