DURHAM, N.H. -- To catch a great artist before he or she is discovered is a find for an art collector. Close to 100 works by 25 such emerging artists will be displayed and discovered at the "2001 Senior Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition," opening April 28 at The Art Gallery at the University of New Hampshire.
The exhibition, supported in part by Friends of The Art Gallery, runs through May 19, with a special preview reception April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring music by The Phil Hilfiker Jazz Combo. The reception, as well as other special events and programs, will be held at The Art Gallery in the Paul Creative Arts Center. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The "2001 Senior Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition" will showcase five graduating B.F.A. and about 20 B.A. students. Their work includes paintings, prints, ceramics, photography and sculpture which represent the culmination of their undergraduate study. Vicki Wright, director of The Art Gallery, calls the exhibition a celebratory event.
"We look forward to working with each of the students as they prepare for this first public exhibition of their work," Wright says. "We hope to send them on their way with the proper tools and knowledge to succeed as professional artists."
The exhibition includes work by B.F.A. graduating seniors Riley Chessman, Groveton; Bethany Cole, Canterbury; Aaron Drew, Dover; Evan Ide, Newmarket; and Susan Klein, Morristown, N.J.
The gallery is located at The University of New Hampshire Paul Creative Arts Center. Contact: (603) 862-3712 or e-mail email@example.com.
