UNH Alumni Association Names Executive Committee

DURHAM, N.H.--The executive committee of the University of New Hampshire's Alumni Association board of directors has been named for the 1999-2000 term.
Members are Paul Caswell, president; Karen Johnson, first vice president; Douglas Blampied, second vice president; and Dale Leland Eichorn and Judith Cochrane Virnelli, members-at-large.
Caswell, of Rye, retired as a vice president of AT&T. A 1960 graduate of UNH with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Caswell is also a founding director of the UNH Foundation and has served on a number of alumni and foundation committees. He is listed in Who's Who in America.
Johnson, of Hingham, Mass., is a tax attorney with Ropes & Gray in Boston. A 1984 graduate of UNH with a bachelor's degree in political science, Johnson earned her law degree from Cornell University in 1990. She has served on a number of UNH alumni committees and volunteers legal assistance to Boston-area charities and civic groups. Johnson has received the Jere Chase Service Award and the Helen Duncan Jones Award for Leadership.
Blampied, of Bow, is a retired vice president of human resources at ChubbLife America. A 1960 graduate of UNH with a bachelor's degree in economics, Blampied has served on a number of UNH alumni committees. He also has served as director of funding for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, director of the Central New Hampshire Community Mental Health Service, a member of numerous committees for United Way of Greater Concord and as a board member of the New Hampshire Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. From 1963 to 1968, he was a captain in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corp. Blampied has been named a fellow in the Life Office Management Association.
Eichorn, of Durham, is the chief financial officer with the Maine Broadcasting System. She has served as a member of her 25th UNH reunion committee and as treasurer for the corporation board of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She also volunteers her time as treasurer on the board of trustees for the Durham Public Library and as secretary for the Durham Historical Society. She received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from UNH in 1964.
Virnelli, of Winchester, Mass., is an active volunteer in her community and at UNH. She graduated from UNH in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in English. Since then, she has served as vice president of the UNH Class of 1957, as a member of the reunion committee, President¼s Council and UNH committee on campus safety, and as co-president of the UNH Parents Association. Virnelli has also volunteered at the ABC House at Winchester High School, as a member of the fund-raising and academic review committees, and as the conservation chair of the Winchester Garden Club.
